We’re excited to announce today that 1.3 now supports Markdown. Also included is something new for a Simplenote app: the ability to see a live preview in the note editor of basic Markdown text formatting such as bold, italic, headings, etc: You can enable the markdown editor by clicking `Markdown formatted` in the note info panel. Tap the eye icon to preview your note as it would appear when published to the web.

Here’s what’s new in version 1.2.0: New Look The app’s user interface has been updated to match the new design we implemented previously in the Windows and Linux apps. You’ll find a new toolbar at the top with some new buttons to toggle the tag drawer and share your notes. We’ve also moved the search bar from the bottom of the notes list to the toolbar at the top. If you’ve used these apps before, this version for macOS should feel right at home. We built this app from the ground up to support all the features that our mobile apps support, including publishing and Markdown.
If you’ve used our in the past and have been missing some of the unsupported features like Markdown we encourage you to try this one out and let us know how it compares. The native app won’t go away any time soon, but we’re exploring the possibility of eventually replacing it with the Electron version. Ready to try it out?!
